Craig has enjoyed helping families through the college process for over 25 years. Very few independent college counselors have worked on both sides of the desk. What does that mean?
Craig understands what colleges are looking for because he worked for 11 years in College Admissions, starting as a college recruiter, and later serving as Director of International Admissions and the Associate Director of Admissions at a private liberal arts college. He has hands-on experience in processing college applications, recruiting students to attend college, serving on the admissions committee, reading applications, and accepting, as well as sometimes, denying applicants. He knows the college process from all sides.
He also understands how your high school student can best prepare for college because for 14 years he was the Director of Academic and College Counseling at a private college prep school in St. Louis. Each year he helped juniors with the college search process and helped seniors complete their applications.
He worked one-on-one with students on writing essays and advised students on what standardized tests to take, what teachers to use as references, and how best to prepare for college visits. He also helped create four-year course plans that included the appropriate high school course work that colleges are wanting to see on transcripts.
Craig’s style is direct and honest. Students find him easy to talk to and fun to work with, and parents appreciate that with his help they are not solely responsible for motivating their child to complete their applications and to meet deadlines. Craig is ready to help each family understand what college admission officers are looking for in an application and to be aware of the timing and deadlines associated with the application process.
He holds a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Maryville University and a College Counseling Certificate from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is knowledgeable and current in his college information.
Craig lives in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife of 29 years and two children. His son is a junior at Principia College, and his daughter is a freshman at Rhodes College. Spending quality time with his family is important to him.
